Coffin Nails Ring

Sterling silver signet ring with a diamond shaped face featuring hand carved coffin nails detail.

Crossed Coffin Nails are common in Western Traditional tattoo iconography. With explanations of meaning ranging from Christianity to witchcraft, the most common understanding seemed to be simply that the wearer is 'Tough as Nails'. These iconic angular illustrations can serve as a reminder of our own mortality, sacrifice, or as a momento mori for a loved one.

Carved in wax first by Bethany, the illustrative design was carved by Calum Tattoo in his signature tattoo style. Bethany then casts each one from a mould into the desired recycled metal and finishes in her Bristol studio. Silver pieces are oxidised to bring out the detail.
